Are your donation receipts tax deductible?
Yes, we are a Private Foundation a Registered Charity under the Canadian Income Tax Act, issued under the British Columbia Societies Act. This allows the Ukrainian Safe Haven Association to issue Canadian Tax Receipts for donations.
Please note at the moment donations of $100 or over will receive a tax receipt, until we can automate this process.
How can I provide accommodation to Ukrainian refugees?
The Ukrainian Canadian Congress Victoria branch is asking to fill out the following form for accommodating refugees if you have room to spare.
What percentage of my donation goes towards helping Ukrainian refugees?
100% of your donation will go directly to the needs of the refugees, such as food and medication, and the support of the Children’s Rehabilitation Facility Project in Ukraine. The Ukrainian Safe Haven Association does not have any paid members of staff.
Sharon and Brian are personally covering all construction costs, property taxes of $70,000 per year, and the wifi.
How can I help your organization?
We are maintaining a list of expertise and items which we require on the Volunteers page, however, if you think you can help us out please don’t hesitate to contact us. Currently the main need is fundraising to support our project.
Do you publish your financial information?
Our intention is to be transparent and publish our financials. As the organization was recently created we do not yet have anything to publish, but we intend to do so in the near future.
What happens to unused or excess donations?
With the state of Ukraine, it’s impossible to guess how many people will need help, and for how long. However, in the event that we have excess or unused donation funds, we will donate them to relevant and vetted Ukrainian charities to help with humanitarian aid.
